Love Birds - Humphrey and Trisha

Thought you'd like to meet my two new birdie friends - Humphrey and Trisha.

They are very much in love as you can tell....

So you know they will be looking forward to Valentine's Day......They are so much in love that you frequently hear them calling each other "my darling" and "my love"...forgoing "Humphrey" and "Trisha". They are just two darlings....

But surely, now and again they must get a little annoyed with each other and fall out and....maybe that's when the "Humphrey" and "Trisha" can be heard:

But I guess they always like to hang out together, regardless....

OK. I confess. These two little birdies are named after some friends of ours! 5 years ago when we were travelling to the Galapagos Island, we met two British couples on the boat. One couple were called Humphrey and Trisha! They are quintessentially British! It's just wonderful......and that's right, Humphrey always refers to Trisha as " darling" or "my love"!!!

We had a wonderful time with them while travelling and I sort of wondered whether these terms of affection would rub off on John...but no! However Humphrey generously extended the terms to include me too - and I did the same for him!!

And we still do! We meet up once a year with the darlings when we go back to England and catch up on what we've all been doing and where we've been travelling!!

Here's to good friends!

Play a little, care a little - ladies cufflinks

Going back to my "remember the little things" bracelet that I made a while ago, I have now done some cufflinks for ladies with the little birdies reminding us to "play a little and care a little".

The cufflinks can be made from any two "little things" that were in the bracelet, such as : stop a little; entertain a little; indulge a little; celebrate a little; care a little; work a little; pamper a little; love a little; play a little. These are shown below in the bracelet below.

Sweet little reminders of the important things in life ;-D

Which two would you choose as your favorites?

Anyone can fall in love.....

I've made a couple of different variations on this piece and here is the latest with a different style "heart". It shows little "anyone" falling through the heart - and thus "anyone can fall in love".

There have been lovely stories from people who have bought this necklace in the past....from "anyone" being the messenger for a guy who didn't quite have the courage to tell his girlfriend he was in love.....to a good luck charm for someone looking for love....to...???? I wonder what the next story will be.....hope they tell me......

The other thing you should notice is that it is a lariat style necklace. And of course, autumn and winter are THE seasons for wearing lariats. They are just perfect over sweaters....so if you don't have a lariat yet....maybe you'll fall in love with anyone..... I'm sure it will be reciprocated...

The Love Boat - cocktail ring

I was recently asked to use my love boat necklace design and make a love boat ring. I finished it today!

The boat is 3/4 long - so imagine the size of those two little people sat inside!

The person who commissioned the piece is married to a very keen fisherman, so she asked if it was possible to add a fishing rod to the boat too. So on one side, you can see a little fishing rod, and it was good day - so there is a fish on the end of the rod. Yes, you have to look carefully, as it's quite small!

I loved making it. Two little people, sharing their love as they sail away in their boat (with the advantage that they won't get hungry as they have a fish to eat!).

What do you think? My ring ideas are a buzzin'......

Commissions - VII - Hands

Another commission to show you. This is an anniversary present that I made for a friend that I met at the Chanticleer workshop. He wanted something in bronze that would symbolize the support and energy in their marriage. After discussions back and forth, I made him some hands and have left it open for how they will be worn/used so just put a simple bail on the top.

Remember the little things....

It's all too easy to rush around, getting caught up in work or something else, and life gets out of balance.

So as you own personal reminder, here is my latest bracelet entitled "Remember the little things". It illustrates 9 different things to help us find that elusive balance.

Remember the little things: ( the squares from left to right )

Stop a little....

Entertain a little....

Indulge a little....

Celebrate a little....

Care a little....

Work a little....

Pamper a little....

Love a little....

Play a little....

I'll tell you more about how I made it in an upcoming post. Hope you like it......

It's the little things

Here's a new little desk buddy called "It's the little things". He's perfect for Valentine's day - as a gift to either a man or woman - and he could sit on a computer, or on someone's desk and be a constant reminder of your love - and how important just the little things are.

He's a cute little guy - offering up his heart and love.

He's 2 cm tall - but that doesn't diminish the amount of love he can hold. He's solid silver and hand sculpted.

Don't forget - it's the little things in life that count.....

What's in a name?

I need your help. I've made a new piece and at the last count, my husband John and I came up with 17 names for it - and that's discarding the usual silly ones my husband comes up with :-D.

So I'd like your input. It's a new necklace - with a little "anyone" figure - but I don't think this needs to be an "anyone can......" necklace. I was thinking of it more to just fit into the "loved" category of my jewelry. And it is Valentine's day coming up .......

We've whittled down the choices to a mere 6 names:

1. Hold on to love
2. Follow your heart
3. Anyone who had a heart
4. Trip of a lifetime
5. Take heart
6. Don't let love get away

Take a look at the photos and see which one your think fits it best or connects with you...and if you have another idea, do suggest it - it could still be something we haven't thought of.

Anyhow - I have put voting "thing" up on the right hand side of the blog. Please enter your vote there and we'll see what the winning name will be.

Comfort

You know those days when you just feel down; sad for no real reason; not depressed, but need a little love...or someone to comfort you....

I had a couple of those days last week. And maybe this was why this necklace came about. I had originally thought it was going to be a shaking hands necklace, but then as I did it, it became two nestling hands, as though they were there for comfort. And as it came about, it seemed like it was my own hands, comforting myself....

The necklace is reversible, so the hands can be palm out or in. Palm out, it looks to me like they are just waiting to do their comforting - offering up their loving care. Palm in, they are already working - soothing and comforting as needed.

So if you are feeling in need of comfort - know that I am sending you comforting thoughts.....

Sending my love

Time for a bit of love! What a way to start the week!

Here are some pieces all about sending love.

The first one is entitled "Special Delivery" and shows a little bird struggling to carry a big red heart. The piece is a brooch. The heart is made from a type of paper clay that dries really hard and tough. I like the brightness of this piece - adding some good colour to the silver. He wants to bring his very special delivery just to you.

The second piece is called "sending my love" and yes, surprise surprise, it shows a bird and a heart!! And the heart is painted red...And it is again a brooch. But yet it is so different from the other one. For one, it isn't three dimensional..but still cute.

And finally a desk buddy I made quite a while ago entitled "just for you". No, it's not a bird and there is no heart! It's a three dimensional something or other - no particular animal - just a character - and he's bring a little flower just for you. He sits on my desk and keeps an eye on me. And now he has a friend in Modesty Max that I made from bronzclay.

So - do these pieces convey their message? Hope you feel like they are sending you some love today! Have a great day!
